Are you missing a great opportunity for your visitors to promote their blog?
I came across CommentLuv while browsing a blog some weeks ago, I can’t remember which blog it was but the chance to have my latest blog post show up in their comments was an offer I couldn’t refuse.
One thing I have been doing more this week, what with the Ultimate Blog Challenge is to visit a lot more blogs and also comment on them. It’s only fair after so many nice people have come along and commented on mine. But I am disheartened when I don’t see CommentLuv at the bottom of the post. It hasn’t stopped me from commenting on a good blog post, but it makes me wonder how many bloggers are missing a trick here by not using it?
There is a premium version of this plug-in, I only have the free version… maybe further down the line when I can warrant paying out for it I will, because I believe in the product.
Here are a few blog posts about CommentLuv, and most probably where I heard about it.

Blogging for Business: Why I use CommentLuv Premium
Why should you install Commentluv on your blog
So take advantage of CommentLuv on my blog, make a comment and your latest blog post will show up alongside your comment. You’ll definitely get more traffic because of it, I certainly have. You can also follow Andy Bailey the developer of this plug-in on Twitter.
Do you use CommentLuv? Have you seen an increase in traffic?
Great post, Jo. I recently came across the commentluv plugin, as well, and I use it on my site. I love it. =)

I think everyone should use it! :)
Thanks for this Jo. I’ll see if I am able to add it to my blog.
Let me know if you need any help! :)
lol, you know me too well. I haven’t been able to add it ;-(
What a great tip Jo. I will see if I can add it to my blog.
If your blog is on WordPress it’s really easy to install…
I love commentluv on other people’s blogs so I have it installed to return the favor. I sent out a tweet to #blogboost gently suggesting that participants install commentluv so I’m glad to see you are pushing it here also. I think it is the greatest thing going to encourage commenting.

I agree Suzanne! :)
Some folks don’t use CommentLuv because their platforms won’t support it (without heavy resource use). And, some of us stop using it when CommentLuv fails to recognize the log-ins.
But, it is a good source of introducing folks to other blogs and to enhance search capabilities.
Great post.
Roy A. Ackerman, Ph.D., E.A. recently posted..A little bit of this. A little bit of that. For the little ones (really little).
Thanks Roy, I’ve not had any problems with it yet but I have heard people not using for SEO reasons.
I’m a great fan of WordPress, and use it for most of my sites (blogs and conventional sites) these days. I prefer to keep my sites as ‘light’ as possible. This includes keeping the plugins to a minimum, as they can slow sites down and need constant updating to apply fixes, to work with newer versions of WordPress, and to close security loopholes.
That said, I really like the look of commentluv, and have just implemented it on my Brittany and Pays de la Loire blog to try it out. I have switched it on for all visitors, not just subscribers. Not sure how this is going to work out, but hope that Akismet keeps most of the spammers away… and I have my site settings to moderate all new commenters anyway.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention Jo, and it’s great to see your January challenge progressing well – I have subscribed to your feed and have read you every day so far!
Martin Jarvis recently posted..2011 was a fine year
You’re right Martin, too many plugin’s could make the site slower but I do have a bit of an addiction… I will be writing another post about plugin’s soon! Glad you’ve taken the plunge and added it to your site though… will pop over and take a look! :)
Thanks for subscribing to my feed… I hope I can keep you entertained!
Commentluv premium is worth the money. It stops spam to your blog, makes your blog more friendly and attractive and gives you better back links when you comment on other peoples’ blogs. Fantastic!!!!
Thanks Debbie, will definitely look into getting the premium version.
I have just had a look and it seems like it is limited to WordPress, is that right? I just moved my domain from WordPress and I am finding the blog hosting very limited, might have to change the blog back to their and keep the site where it is. What a pain!
Oh right, maybe it is limited, that’s a shame… I have found hosting on WordPress really good!
I love CommentLuv also and this is one of the fewer plugins that I keep as I want to stay light, as Martin Jarvis mentioned. And O notice the issues that Roy mentioned: sometimes it is a bit of a pain because it might not give you the option to pick a post and this happens erratically… I still like it though!
@Lynette, are you on blogger? If so, you should be able to install, here’s a tutorial: http://comluv.com/download/commentluv-blogger/ But I would stay on WordPress if I were you, the platform is great and very customizable.
Thanks for the great post, Jo!
